Good Shepherd Centre
The Good Shepherd Centre for Teenage Mothers in Lesotho offers a safe and nurturing home for young mothers facing poverty and illness, empowering them to care for themselves and their children.
Because Lesotho has the world’s second-highest HIV prevalence rate and widespread gender inequality, many Basotho girls are at risk of unplanned pregnancies. These young girls become pregnant due to rape, a lack of positive role models and proper education, or engaging in commercial sex for survival.
Bountiful Hope Foundation’s
Young Mothers Sponsorship Program
At the Good Shepherd Centre, teen mothers have the opportunity of academic and vocational education. Through a combination of traditional schooling as well as vocational training, young mothers are able to continue their education and gain life skills that they can use to generate their own income and become self-sufficient to take care of themselves and their child.
