Bountiful Hope Education Program

BOUNTIFUL HOPE EDUCATION PROGRAM

Lesotho has the second-highest HIV prevalence rate in the world, leaving over 150,000 children orphaned and among the most vulnerable populations affected by the epidemic. With no government funding for education beyond 7th grade, many children are forced to drop out because they cannot afford tuition.

Since 2005, the Bountiful Hope Foundation has provided scholarships to over 1,000 orphans, offering them a chance at education and a brighter future. While this number may seem small, the impact on these young lives has been profound. But there is still more to do! With your support, we can continue transforming the lives of these children and breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

Bountiful Hope Education Program

  • Education is a powerful tool that transforms individuals, families, and entire communities. It is essential for a child’s physical, psychological, cognitive, and social well-being. With access to education, children grow into confident leaders, role models, and active contributors to society.

By nurturing their talents and independence, we empower them to make informed decisions, solve problems, and help shape the future of Lesotho. Bountiful Hope Foundation is dedicated to ensuring orphans and vulnerable children have the opportunity to attend school. Our tuition scholarships support students beginning in Grade 8 (known as “Form A” in Lesotho).

For many of these orphans, continuing their education is their only hope of breaking the cycle of poverty and overcoming the loss of their parents. Financial and emotional support not only enables them to stay in school but also reassures them that they are valued and not forgotten.

  • Bountiful Hope Foundation believes in holistic education. Each year, we host a week-long camp for scholarship recipients, where former students who have completed high school return to mentor and support younger learners.

This camp fosters high-impact change by teaching essential life skills, including:

    • Effective Communication

    • Community-Building

    • Coping with Grief & Loss

    • Developing Empathy

    • Promoting Gender Equality

    • Navigating Peer Pressure

    • Leadership Development & Empowerment

  • Bountiful Hope Foundation employs Thato, a former orphan sponsored by our program who has completed his education and received training in teaching. As someone who has walked the same path, Thato provides invaluable mentorship to current students.

Thato regularly meets with the orphans, visits their schools, and offers encouragement, guidance, and advocacy. He currently works with 53 students across 14 schools, helping them navigate the challenges of education and life as an orphan in Lesotho. His presence is a testament to what is possible when these children receive support and hope.
